The Best Coffee In Salem

Salem is undoubtedly known for its witches and spooky attractions, but its coffee should not be forgotten. With over twenty cafes and coffee shops in this coastal town, there quite literally is coffee on every corner.

Fuel up for a long day of exploring the historic, cobblestone streets of Salem or warm up with a nice cup of cider on a chilly day. Of the many coffee shops I tried while in Salem, these are at the top of my list.

1. Odd Meter Coffee

Odd Meter easily made the best latte in Salem. We visited during October, so Odd Meter had plenty of seasonal drinks to try. I ordered the Witch’s Wand, an iced hazelnut latte with black bitters. It was a sweet, smooth, latte with a witchy feel matching the city itself. I’d recommend any of the seasonal drinks, or a traditional latte.

This shop is located at the edge of downtown Salem, within easy walking distance of all major attractions and the bus stop. This is the type of coffee shop I’d suggest for a grab and go drink, as there is not much space to sit inside. Grab a latte from Odd Meter and snap a photo in front of their bright, space-themed, wall-art before exploring all Salem has to offer.

2. Jaho Coffee

If you have a sweet tooth, Jaho is the coffee shop for you. With an extensive menu of pastries, muffins, and cake, Jaho is the perfect stop to satisfy your cravings. I ordered my typical iced vanilla latte from Jaho, and it was very similar in taste to a Dunkin’ French Vanilla latte. Certainly on the sweeter side, consider adding an extra shot if you want that bitter coffee taste.

More than just the coffee, I appreciated the options that Jaho offered. If coffee isn’t your preference, enjoy Bubble tea or soft serve ice cream. Jaho also offers a small breakfast and lunch menu filled with soups and sandwiches.

Jaho certainly gets busy, but there is both indoor and outdoor seating available. I’d highly recommend Jaho’s mini apple cinnamon cake.

3. Front Street Coffee House

Front Street Coffee House is much humbler than Odd Meter and Jaho. Their interior isn’t brightly painted in an outer space theme, nor do they offer ice cream and a plethora of sweet treats. Front Street Coffee House is the place to go for a laid back atmosphere and no-nonsense coffee.

My Mom dislikes lattes and always orders plain drip-coffee. She said Front Street had the smoothest coffee she’d ever tasted. I also enjoyed a simple latte, which was certainly less sweet than Jaho. I found Front Street to be less busy than the other cafes as well, tucked away into the corner between shops, making it a local hidden-gem.

Whether you like a loud atmosphere and seasonal drinks, sweet lattes with a slice of cake, or simple coffee in a relaxed setting, these shops are some of the best in Salem.
