Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Travel Tuesday: Here’s what you need to know

Gone are the days of fighting over a flat screen TV in the aisles of Walmart at two in the morning. More frequently, shoppers forgo the hassle of the stores and shop the best deals of the year online. I have to admit, I miss the chaos of pre-online Black Friday. It’s been too long since I’ve witnessed people ripping open boxes and shoving through crowds to get 50% off a Wii.

And, the rise of online shopping presents a dilemma: when is the best time to get a good deal? Black Friday deals start as early as November and ramp up leading to Black Friday. There’s also Cyber Monday to consider: should you wait for a better online deal, or grab it while it’s in stock on Friday? And for travelers, there’s another day to consider when searching for deals.

Travel Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is historically the best day to score big on travel deals worldwide. In 2022, Travel Tuesday had 78% more deals than Cyber Monday. Thanksgiving sales aren’t limited to clothes and electronics, you can save on flights, cruises, and hotels.

With that in mind, bookmark Tuesday, November 28th, to search for the best travel deals. Last year, JetBlue offered $100 off any flight booked that day. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian offered up to 60% off cruises, and hotels worldwide offered packages and discounts.

If last year serves as reference, waiting until Travel Tuesday to shop travel deals is your best bet. Deals have already begun, but Travel Tuesday is the day to capitalize on the sales.

Where to look for deals:

All major airlines

Skyscanner

Royal Caribbean

Norwegian Cruise Lines

Carnival Cruises

Hopper

Hotels

If there’s a particular hotel, condo, or property you’re interested in, check on those too. Don’t be afraid to reach out to property owners on Airbnb or VRBO and see if they’re offering any Travel Tuesday deals.

My best piece of advice when looking for deals is to be as flexible as possible. Many of the sales do have blackout dates, although there will still be plenty of offers available throughout the year.

As the 28th approaches, I’ll be posting the best deals on the blog and in the Facebook page, so make sure you’ve joined Adventure with Avery to stay in the loop. Happy travels!
