Voodoo Donuts: Denver International Airport
After coming across the quirkiest donut shop inside the Denver International Airport, I was struck with an idea to start a new series of blogs entitled “Airport Gems.” In this series, I’ll be highlighting some must hit spots during your next layover.
Voodoo Donuts needs to set up shop in a place like Salem, where its devilish undertones would thrive. Some donuts are darkly humorous while others are frosted in pentagrams, all of which are contrasted with Voodoo’s bright pink logos and chandelier clad shops. As someone who loves both pink and horror, I appreciated the juxtaposition.
The donut I purchased was as big as my entire face; a glazed donut topped with chocolate sauce, smeared in peanut butter, and sprinkled with crushed oreos. It was aptly named “The Dirty Old Bastard,” which matched its dirt-like appearance. If you really want a taste from the dark side, buy one of their long johns shaped into an actual Voodoo doll. There are plenty of donuts to choose from, and given their size, they aren’t very expensive. I paid a little over $4 for my donut.
If you want a souvenir, they have black and pink Voodoo shirts and stickers. If cups are more your style, they offer donut hole mugs with their catch phrase, “the magic is in the hole” written along the side.
This shop is located on the second floor of terminal B in the Denver International Airport.
